Dr. Berta's first clinic, a Butler building on Pine Road was erected and opened that same year. The practice continued to grow, and in 1985 he joined with Dr. Wayne Morris in forming Coweta Veterinary Associates, PC.  In 1990, the two partners expanded the scope of their veterinary practice by securing a lot on Hospital Road and built Dogwood Veterinary Hospital, a facility which would house a full-service, AAHA-certified small-animal hospital, and also serve as home-base for Coweta Veterinary Associates. After seeing several years of growing pains and several small animal Veterinarians, the practice welcomed Dr. Pam Johnson in 1995. She was a perfect fit, and became a full partner in Dogwood Veterinary Group 1999.

In September, 1998, Dr. Berta retired from large animal veterinary medicine, coming inside to work fulltime in the small animal hospital. Dr. Berta and Dr. Morris sold the large animal practice in February, 2000 and Dr. Morris joined Dogwood fulltime in May, 2000.   Dr. Berta's interests in small animal medicine are in the areas of general surgery, orthopedics and ultrasound diagnostics. Of utmost importance is the common goal of excellence among doctors and staff working together to provide patients and clients the very best medicine and service possible.
